The Latest from the Lungs

Dear Friends,

The house is a little quieter this week as the kids have gone home for Spring Break. They have been working hard on schooling and doing work outside as well as their household chores. They deserve a break.

Tuesday was a beautiful day outside and so we cleared some trees that fell down over the winter. We were very careful but three of us got poison ivy...Olivia, Logan, and yours truly. We still have some work to get done in clearing branches and trees but you can best bet we will be even more vigilant.

Work has also begun on the garden. Mr. Leon has shown me how to use the disc and the hiller and we are ready to begin. Joy helped Mr. Leon set out our onion sets and when the kids get back we will be setting out tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and other garden items. It's really nice to have someone like Mr. Leon who knows how to put out a garden. The kids and I are learning so much from him.

We have also begun setting up "Camp Odie" (O.D. -as in Open Door). This will be a place for groups to come in and set up tents for group camp outs. We have set up a fire-ring and Leon is getting ready to build an outdoor toilet. We already have a group set to come later this month from Community Christian Church. It will also be a good place for us to use for campfires and camp outs for the kids.

We have three new additions to the home this month. Foghorn, Martha, and Mabel have joined the Open Door Family. They don't do much except lay around. But they do provide a nice breakfast. No, these aren't new kids...their chickens. The kids are helping to feed them, water them, and collect the eggs. It is another learning experience for the kids. They get excited every time they find more eggs.

Wendy and I are looking forward to being at the Ladies Retreat. Wendy will be manning the display this year while me and the kids will be working in the kitchen. We hope to see a lot of friends and supporters there.

Don't forget that we are trying to raise funds for a new swimming pool this summer. Your support really makes a difference. This would make a good project for VBS missions, Sunday School classes, or camp missions. It would also make a good memorial or honorarium gift.

Please continue to pray for the kids as they get ready for End of Grade Testing coming up in May.

God Bless You,

Loren Harold Lung
