The Latest from the Lungs

August Update

Dear Friends,

The hardest days with the kids are the day they get here and the day they leave. It is hard to see them come from situations that are often beyond their control and watching them adjust to the new environment. It is hard to say good-bye because over the time they are here we become close and we truly love them as a family.

It was really hard to say good-bye to Joy this month.  Joy completed all her goals and was ready to fly. The Sunday Morning before she was to leave, Joy sang “Wonderful, Merciful Savior” in the worship service. There were lots of tears shed. Tears of Joy were shed because she was going to be with her parents and tears of sadness were shed because we will miss her so much.

School has started for our high school students. Wendy has begun to work on school for Joel, Donovin, Michael, and Thomas. We want to thank all of you who sent money or school supplies to the home to get them started. We had to purchase school uniforms for those going to school and your donations helped. The schools are tough about not having logos on shoes or clothes and we have had a time finding them without labels.

It seems like breakdowns have been a theme this month too. We had to have all three dryers repaired as well as one of the washers, the ice machine, and the cooler. We are keeping the appliance repairman busy but hopefully these repairs will last us awhile.

We know that some of you like to start your Christmas plans early. Wendy and the kids are working on list. They will be posted soon.

Thanks again for all your prayers, financial support, and your personal interest in the ministry of Open Door Christian Ministries. If you would like our latest promotional  DVD please feel free to contact us with your request.

 In His service,

Loren and Wendy Lung
