The Latest from the Lungs

August 2009

Dear Friends,

Here it is the last day of August. Where did this month go? It went so fast.

School started this month. Of course there was shopping for clothes and school supplies for the ones who are going to public school. And there was a meeting with the Education Committee to get all our ducks in a row for the ones who will be homeschooled. There is curriculum to order, schedules to get made, budgets to look over. And of course we have had to get the children geared up and psyched to the right frame of mind.

On the 15th we hosted a swim party and cook-out for the children of Swan Quarter Church of Christ. This church has been so supported of the ministry and we really enjoyed having them come out for a visit. We love it when our kids get a chance to share their home with others.

We also had a group of high school children from Cape Fear Church of Christ. They helped us clear some limbs and small trees from the ditch bank. They were so encouraging to our children and we all had fun visiting an working together.

It was with a heavy heart that I preached my final sermon at Holly Neck Church of Christ on the 16th. I have really enjoyed my ministry there but I know that the ministry of Open Door needs sharing. Wendy and the kids will continue to attend Holly Neck as we feel the children need a church home and the people at Holly Neck are so loving and kind to all the children.

On the 23rd of this month I began visiting the churches to give presentations and to preach. On the 23rd I was at Eastern Pines and on the 30th I went to Hunters Bridge. I have also visited some of our churches just to fellowship and worship with them. If you are interested in having a presentation at your church, Sunday School class, youth group, club, or civic organization please call me. I would love to come and share the ministry and our vision for the future.

September 26th on your calendar as the date for the annual appreciation meal. The fun starts at 2:00 p.m. with music and activities for the children. This year we are going to be barbecuing pork shoulders and chicken on the grill. There will be potatoes, coleslaw, and some great desserts as well. Hope to see you there!

Don't forget that there is a Golf Tournament Fund Raiser on October 3rd at Bayview Golf Course in Bath, NC. For more info please follow this link. For Entry Form follow this link.

Thank you again for your support.

God Bless You,

Loren Harold Lung
