The Latest from the Lungs

December 2009

Dear Friends,

What is with all the rain? I laugh every time they say it is supposed to snow. People run to the store and buy bread and milk like they won't be able to get out for weeks. Out here in Creswell, we get rain. And "the rains come down and the floods go up!" We have had flooding like crazy. And the schools have been closed for flooding twice already! It's crazy. Now the children have to go to school on Saturday to make up (Hey, maybe that isn't so bad...lol).

I really enjoyed going to the Christmas program at Creswell Elementary. The classes sang songs and acted out the night before Christmas. Although the program was light and cheery I could feel my heart tugged from the lack of Christ being left out of CHRISTmas. I realize it is a secular school but it still felt a little blank until the end. Before the program ended the principal got up and said, "It would be right to end the program without singing 'Silent Night'". Everyone stood and we sang together. That was the best part. I thank God that there are still educators who know where true wisdom and knowledge originates. It is so easy for that Grinch, Satan, to steal our Christmas joy. But I am reminded in John 10:10, " The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." Remember, Satan can't steal what you have treasured in your heart. Christ has given us life to the fullest!

December is always a busy, busy month. We have all kinds of groups coming or we're off to this church or that. But the kids love it. I know they like going places and meeting people. They love visiting the other churches. And they love it when church groups come here and they can show off their rooms, toys, and other things.

Mary Hill Baptist Church came to visit the home. Their children came prepared to give us special program. There was a puppet program that our kids really liked. Wendy and I especially enjoyed the signing group and the music. We shared in a Christmas devotional and then had refreshments.

This month the children enjoyed going to Beaver Dam Church of Christ for their Christmas program. After church we went to Pizza Inn with several of the people from the church. It was a wonderful time. We also received a pantry shower and financial gifts for the home and kids.

The Christian Women's Fellowship at Berea Church of Christ had a Christmas party for the Children. The children always enjoy going to Berea because of all the delicious snacks and food they have. The also love the stories that are read and the fellowship with the ladies and other children.

I really had a special treat in being able to share with the Farm Life Ruritan Club about the ministry of Open Door. A friend of mine said, "I believe you'll go anywhere to talk about Open Door." I guess that's because I love and believe in this ministry. I will go where ever God opens a door for me to go. If you would like to have me come and share the work of Open Door Christian Ministries please call me at 252-797-4218.

Thank you again for your support.

God Bless You,
