The Latest from the Lungs

Dear Friends,

One of the things you have to get used to when you are a houseparent is that kids come and go. Sometimes you feel like they take a piece of your heart when they leave.

In December, Josh and Joel, our two little ones went home to live with their mother. The situation was not what we wanted for the boys but it is out of our hands. Wendy and I were reminded that you do what you can for these kids while you have them… and give them lots of love. The place was a lot quieter after the boys left and we miss them so much.

Angelo also went home to live with his mother at Christmas break. Wendy and I were sad to see him go as well. We are also praying for Him. Mom felt that she was ready to handle raising him so we bid him well. We were glad that we could help her get on her feet again.

Kayla went home January 19th. After being here about a year she had met her goals and was ready to go home. She is back with her grandparents and doing well. We miss her.

On January 22, we received two new girls. Well… one of them is new anyway!

Logan has come back to join our family here at the “Big House” on Weston Road. Logan has been a resident of Open Door since she was 5 years old. She left in the Spring of 2005 after her brother graduated from Creswell High School. We are glad to welcome her back to the place she calls home. Logan is 15 years old. She likes to sing and play the piano. She is working on her freshman studies here at the home.

Joy also joined us on January 22. Joy is 16 years old. She loves the ocean and surfing, skateboarding, and soccer. She has a beautiful voice, and plays the piano. Joy loves shopping at the surf shops and wearing nice clothes. We are glad to welcome Joy to our Open Door Family.

God is faithful and sends us more kids that are in the need of love and a place to stay. And they soon fill a place in our hearts too. Thank you for your support of the ministry and your love for the kids here at the home. We couldn’t do it without your prayers, financial support, and your involvement!

God Bless You,
