The Latest from the Lungs

Thank you for your special well wishes as Wendy recovers from bruised ribs. I can’t keep her in the chair long enough for her to mend. She says there is too much to do.

Amanda left the nest on the last day of May. She has returned home with her mother. We are sad to see her go and praying for her and her family.

Thomas joined the family here at Open Door on June 1st. He is 12 years old and loves wrestling. He also likes playing video games, rough housing, and baseball. Thomas doesn’t care for vegetables although he has started trying some new things since coming to Open Door.

The boys are glad to have Thomas join them. They now out-number the girls! They all get along pretty good and have fun playing together.

We want to thank the group that came out from Rosemary Church of Christ. They painted our playground, put up new swings, dug out the sod, and put a nice layer of wood shavings under it. It looks nice. Special thanks to the two young men from Rosemary who dug the holes to bury tires under our See-Saw. They did it all by themselves!

If you are interested in bring a work crew out to Open Door we have a list of projects from easy handyman stuff to some jobs requiring more skilled labor.

The children also wanted me to invite your youth to come out for a picnic and some games. We have a great picnic shelter, basketball courts, volleyball court, and lots of running-round open spaces. We are also just 3 miles away from Petigrew State Park and 5 miles from Somerset Plantation.

We thank-you for your support. If your church would like to support us during VBS we can always use foam or chinet plates, napkins, facial tissues, bath tissue, paper towels, plastic cups, trash bags, and paper towels. These items are easy to collect and the kids have fun bringing them. We are also collecting money for a water filtering system for the house and a new pool for the kids.

God Bless You,

Loren Lung, houseparent
