The Latest from the Lungs

June 2008

Dear Friends,

What a busy, busy month!

The first weekend started off with Daniel and Lea Ann getting married. It was supposed to be outside but the heat was supposed to get up around 102º with the index even higher. So the wedding was moved indoors. It was really beautiful and for a brief moment I got choked up as I remembered that little boy sitting on my lap eating my cookies and cream ice cream. The reception was fantastic. There was plenty of fruit to eat so I didn't go off my weight watchers. I avoided the cake although everyone said it was great. Special thanks to all those who helped make the day so great.

That night a work group of 10 people came in from New Lisbon, Indiana. The group was lead by a childhood friend of mine, Dave Deiwert. The group worked hard despite the heat and the smoke (from the nearby forest fires). The were able to get the electricity out to the sign and the sign lit up. They also put in a light at the office, rebuilt the front drainage culverts, cleaned and organized the garden shed and the woodshed, removed a pole, put up a pool light, fixed a toilet, moved a piano and china cabinet, led devotions, and encouraged all the kids. (We also fit some playtime in at the beach and at the sound). They worked their hearts out and blessed us greatly.

About this time we got the call that Josh and Joel would be going home to live with their mother. Although this is a happy time for them it was hard for Wendy and I. We have grown to love them as our own and it's like saying good-bye to your family. We know that God will send more kids for us to love and tell them about Jesus. There is such a need out there. Please pray for Josh and Joel that God will send other loving Christians into their lives that will help fan the flames of Jesus in their hearts.

We have really enjoyed joining some of the churches with VBS. Last week we were able to be with Live Oak Church of Christ. This week the kids have been attending VBS with Philippi Church of Christ and will be joining Swan Quarter Church of Christ on Friday. If you would like us to come to your VBS with a presentation please feel free to call. We still have openings in our calendar. If you would like a DVD to show or a photo display please contact us in advance.

We have had a bit of trouble with the pool this year. The liner has come off several times and the pool has had to be drained to fix it. It has become a little frustrating and we are looking for some help of someone in the know. If you have experience with pools please give us a call.

We also have had a development with our cooler. The old girl is low on freon and uses the old R-12 type that is no longer available. The cooler is a type that was used in a grocery store and the repairman said that economically it is costing more money to run than it is worth. So now we are shopping for a commercial cooler. We have investigated a walk-in but we don't think that will fit our purpose at this time. We are probably going to have to get a two or three door model (hopefully, at a deal).

Please keep September 21st in your prayers and on your minds as we gear up for Open Door Day. We are currently working on the DVD and we hope to have a mailing out in early August so you will have time to promote this special day with your congregation.

OH! I want to thank all of you for praying for me as I have been on weight watchers. As of June 10th I have lost 33 pounds. I had a bit of a scare with some dizziness and cold sweats. My blood pressure had dropped really low and the doctor has taken me off that medication! I no longer have high blood pressure. PRAISE GOD. Wendy and Logan are also trying to lose weight too.

God Bless You,

Loren Harold Lung
