The Latest from the Lungs
June 2009
Dear Friends,
The month started off with an end of the year party with our home school group. There were lots of people here to share in demolishing some hot dogs, chips, coleslaw, and more. One of the local men brought in some baby animals for the kids to enjoy. We also swam in the pool and the kids played and played. Most of us slept well that night.
We also had a group in from First Christian Church in Roanoke Rapids. We love it when people come to share the ministry of Open Door and to visit with the kids. We are looking forward to being with them for Vacation Bible School later this month. Other Vacation Bible Schools this month include Swan Quarter Christian Church, Christian Church in Seaford, Delaware, Eastern Pines Church of Christ, and First Christian, Roanoke Rapids.
Open Door has been blessed with getting food and other assorted items from the Food Bank of the Albemarle. On June 9th the Food Bank held the "Dine Out to Help Out" campaign. Participating restaurants in Eastern North Carolina donate a portion of their proceeds for that day to the Food Bank. We want to encourage people to support the Food Bank especially since we receive items through them.
We are looking forward to being in Louisville, Ky. during the first week in July. We will have a display at the North American Christian Convention and visit some churches while we are up their. The kids are looking forward to all the activities at the convention and being able to stay in a hotel. Please be praying for us as we travel.
Thank you again for your support.
God Bless You,
Loren Harold Lung
