Dear Friends,
What a wonderful month May turned out to be. The weather was beautiful for most of the month and so many things were happening.
The children took their EOG’s (end of grade test) the first week in May. Some of the kids were sweating it at first but they soon relaxed and finished the testing up. Now that they are all done they can relax. School will still continue for the children until June. Most all of the children will have some school work over the Summer as well. This will keep them fresh for the fall and will also allow us to play catch up with some of the children who have fallen behind in certain subjects.
On May 4th we packed up the van and a trailer and headed for Florida. The trip was well planned and went off without a hitch. All the kids had a great time and we got to know each other better.
Florida was absolutely great. We only had bad weather on Sunday evening. It rained, the wind blew, lightning flashed and thunder rolled. But it went over very quickly and we were relieved. The rest of the week the weather was fine…not too hot or muggy like it might have been if we went later.
The brush fires were about 50 miles away from us. But on several occasions the smoke rolled in like fog and made visibility hard. We were also concerned about Wendy’s allergies and Thomas’s asthma. But neither one were affected too badly.
We spent several day exploring the theme parks. We were staying only a few blocks away so it was easy to go back to the room for meals and then return.
The kids enjoyed the rides and Wendy and I found our niche sipping coffee on the patio of the bakery. I think the kids had their picture taken with most of the characters in the park. My favorite was when Logan had her picture taken with what she thought was James Bond but turned out to be a chauffer for Lucy and Desi impersonators.
There are several pictures posted on the web of our trip. We would like to thank the board for approving the trip and our supporters for making it possible.
God Bless You,
Loren Harold and Wendy Lung
