The Latest from the Lungs
Dear Friends,
It was good to see so many of our friends and supporters come out for the Pig Pickin’. The music was fantastic and the food was good too. But the best part was getting to talk and visit with folks and tell them how much we appreciate their support of the work here at the home. If you missed the Pig Pickin’ we want you to know how much we appreciate your support as well. This home is built on love but it takes volunteers, money, and donations to keep it going!
Now that the weather has cooled down again the boys and I are working hard to keep the fire going in the fireplace. It looks good and adds warm glow to the room. I was thinking it would be nice to have morning devotions around the fireplace.
As we were getting out the winter wears we have notice that last years coats don’t fit as well and somehow gloves and hats have come up missing. It’s always a chore to keep the kids in clothes. Seems like their always growing or wearing things out.
The kids have worked hard with Leon Williams in the garden. Now that we have had the first frost those collards should be mighty sweet. We have already enjoyed some tender greens from the garden. Leon has done a great job making a good garden. He can grow them and this “city-boy” will cook them up right!
Several people have asked for Christmas list and sizes already. We have sent those to the one who have asked for them. We are also hoping to get them up on the web-site soon. If your church is planning to do something for the kids this year we ask that you have it ready by the 15th of December. It gets hectic after that with activities, vacation time, and kids coming and going.
Thank you, again, for your support of the ministry that we are doing here at Open Door. Your time, energy, and finances make it possible to touch the lives of these children and their families. The effects are far reaching and greatly appreciated by so many people.
God Bless You,
Loren Harold Lung
