The Latest from the Lungs
October 2007
Dear Friends,
We really had a wonderful day for our annual appreciation dinner. The weather was wonderful, a beautiful fall day. There were so many who shared in special music and did a great job. The directors did a nice job in preparing the meal and serving it. And the fellowship was wonderful. Thanks to all who shared and helped out to make the meal a success. Thanks to all our supporters for a great year here at the “Big House on Weston Road.”
We sure got a lot of use out of the pool this year and thank everyone so much for providing it for us. We finished closing the pool up in the middle of this month and as soon as we did the weather turned cooler. The kids are looking forward to the spring when we can open it up again.
It may only be October but the stores are already reminding us that Christmas is just around the corner. Carla reminded me that it is almost time to take the picture for our annual Christmas card. Daniel was asking about Christmas decorations just last weekend. Wendy is currently working on Christmas list for the churches who are interested in purchasing gifts. The kids are all helping her with a constant chorus of “I want this” or “this is cool” or “could I get that for Christmas?” Wasn’t it just summer a couple of days ago?
As some of you may have heard, I have been experiencing some back problems. Although that has limited my mobility and some of my abilities I am still able to perform my duties as a houseparent and there are always jobs to do even from my chair in the office. I would very much appreciate your prayers for a fast recovery.
Just a reminder that if your congregation is interested we would love to send you our current DVD of our vision for the ministry at Open Door. This video is in segments that are less than 5 minutes long and are ideal for showing before church, in missions meetings, in Sunday School classes, VBS, and also for Youth Groups. Just call us and we’ll drop one in the mail for you right away.
Thanks and God Bless You.
